After culminating a personality profile for the designer and coordinating with his team for weeks, finally meeting Yves of Spinelli Kilcollin was the fruits of a well labored love. It was my first trunk show I had my hand in at my new gig and I wanted, needed, for it to be entrenched with the effortless, yet, coolness a creative director could bring. We wired up a turn table while my new coworkers schemed with our family-like clientele, collecting a motley mass of vinyl for Yves to remember his H-Town trip. Fleetwood Mac, undeniably the best. Rod Stewart, an unexpected hit. Unheard of suggestions from ultra hip DJ connections to Michael Jackson's Thriller filled the industrial-meet-French/Danish-designed space from morning until the last customers left at about dinner time.
He himself was the utmost interesting person I have met in all of 2016 and maybe half of 2015 put together yet as kind and welcoming as I imagine Bo the First Dog to be. We all got to bask in jewelry if we were royals (see above and below) and designed a few pieces of our own. Speaking of which, we have custom toe rings on our minds (and feet) hello trends 2017, you heard it here first!
