Wikipedia describes Stockholm syndrome as "a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending and identifying with them." So, couldn't we say that failing to acknowledge the obvious visual disadvantages of the sandal, that we are defending and identifying with brick-shaped footwear creators? Maybe not. Maybe I shouldn't be comparing abuse and trauma to shoe trends (most likely.) Maybe they just are a really great two-strapped classic. Or just maybe we're revolting the straps upon straps that have generated the gladiator that have spiraled so out-of-strap-control that we can not strap anymore. Example A: Sophia Webster (I can't say I'm done with those, I mean they are just beautiful and luckily for those without patience or nimble fingers, they have a zipper)
